Specify the Design Bluetooth Support September 15, 2026 19:04 Updated Introduction There are several options Members have to specify their design within Qualification Workspace. Important: Members may not specify an existing Design that has a QDID and the Bluetooth® Product type (defined in Volume 0, Part B of the Bluetooth Core Specification Version 5.4 or earlier) Development Tool, Test Equipment, or Component (non-tested). In this article Specify the Design options Using existing Designs in Qualification Workspace No existing Designs in Qualification Workspace Specify the Design options While there are several options available, you do not need to choose the option; Qualification Workspace will do this for you based on the design details entered in the tool. The following table is a breakdown of the options available to qualify a product within Qualification Workspace. Option Option description Example scenario Additional information 1 — Use a single existing design This option applies when you are qualifying a Product that includes a single existing Design that has a DN, QDID, or DID and that Design has not been modified. Your company is white labeling a speaker. The supplier or manufacturer of the speaker will provide you with the QDID/DN they used when qualifying the speaker, which you will then input into Qualification Workspace. You are not making any modifications to the Bluetooth functionality (ICS) of this speaker. This option does not generate a new Design Number (DN) as no new design was created as part of the process. Therefore, the search results will not show a Design Number in the first column of the search results table. 2a — Create a new design that combines multiple existing designs This option will result in a new Design Number (DN) by combining two or more unmodified Designs that have DNs or QDIDs into one of the permitted combinations in Table 3.1 of the QPRD. You want to create your own speaker using aspects of other speakers. Your supplier or manufacturer will provide you with 2 or more QDID/DNs to create the speaker with all the functionality you want it to have. You are not making any modifications to the Bluetooth functionality (ICS) of the QDID/DNs, you are only combining them. When creating a new Design using Option 2a, the ILDs between Layers included in the Design will be checked based on the latest TCRL Package version used among the included Designs. 2b — Create any other new design This option will result in a new Design Number (DN) by combining an existing DN(s) with any new design. You want to create your own speaker using a Bluetooth module. However, you are implementing an additional Bluetooth SIG adopted profile in the design for additional functionality. Your supplier or manufacturer may provide you with a QDID/DN to get started, or you will create a new design within our tool. An ICS Form is filled out for each new Layer implemented in the new Design and for each modified Layer based on an included Design using the active TCRL Package version. Using existing Designs in Qualification Workspace If you want to include any existing Designs in your Product, select Yes, I do at the prompt shown below. Here you will be able to include any QDIDs/DNs provided by your supplier. Warning: Any included Design must not implement any Layers using withdrawn specification(s).
